Biography:

If the dictionary states that “Mañana” (“Tomorrow”) is the time that lapses from the moment the sun rises until mid-day, that it is part of the near future for any given person, that it is the day that immediately follows today or simply, that it is the time that is yet to come, then with Sin Bandera this will hold yet another meaning.

And surely the almanac should refer to “Mañana” (“Tomorrow”), from this month forward, as a compilation of songs created with the heart and sang with the soul, danced profoundly in the mind with the rhythm of R&B, a duo that makes history in Mexico, and will continue to do so, with their tenacious grip on inspiration.

Leonel García and Noel Schajris return to the musical scene, after their first two studio productions “Sin Bandera” and “De Viaje”, with what they say is their most well-rounded, most genuine, and best produced and best planned album to date.

“The new album must always be better due to the forced, natural and basic evolution that it must contain. I feel that it is the best we’ve done because we were able to etch everything in music, in writing, just as we carried it in our heads. It seems as if this is the typical speech, but it is the truth. We made it in
a more efficient manner, especially in the up tempos, which are that we feel are the most complicated for us.

I am more excited about this finished product than I was about previous albums, and it is not because I don’t like them anymore, I love them, but our natural maturity is noticeable and everything flows together in “Mañana”, states Noel, the happy and playful one of the duo known as Sin Bandera.

Radio is already playing “Suelta Mi Mano” (“Let Go of My Hand”), the first single off of the album which counted on production from Aureo Baqueiro, Soul Diggaz and one of the legendary singers of contemporary R&B, Brian McKnight.

This song, narrates Leonel, was written more than a year ago and had many failed attempts at being recorded. It doesn’t fit right in the ear of its author and after experimenting with several arrangements, it was finally left with piano, guitar and voice, in addition to some chords at the end.

"Que Me Alcance La Vida" ("I Hope My Life Lasts Long Enough"), "No Voy a Ti" (I Won't Go to You") are some of the new cuts by the duo made up of Leonel, Mexico City native, and Noel, born in Argentina. However, Noel is also considered Mexican after recently becoming a naturalized citizen of that country, eight years since he first set foot in Mexico City.

“ ‘Tócame’ (“Touch Me”) is very special to me, it’s one of my favorites because it was born out of the need to say with words, to express to the person you love, how special one feels when someone caresses us, how good we feel with that person. It was created on an airplane and I believe it surpassed my expectations with the final result,” states the Mexico City native.

Now all the dictionary texts that talk about “Mañana” (“Tomorrow”) can also refer to the solid and perfectly infused duo made up of Leonel and Noel. Both have ingrained themselves more in musical arrangement and composition work.

“What we have always tried to do is work together, share ideas, similar to the style Lennon and McCartney had, that is Schajris and García. We have found the perfect balance for work,” states Noel.

Both artists agree that Sin Bandera project is a common project, united by goals that each one of them set years ago and which are reflected in their writing.

“It’s not about making ourselves look good, it’s about making the song shine. When we play live, it doesn’t matter who sings, instead it’s what he sings and how he sings it.

“Deep down we are instruments, mere transmitters of the musical energy we have. There is a caring relationship with the public that is there because of

what we do on stage, because of what they hear on the album,” added the Argentinean native.

More united than ever
Leonel García was born on January 29, 1975 in Mexico City and Noel Schajris on July 19, 1974 in Buenos Aires. They have been together as a group for more than five years and their emblematic songs are “Que Lloro” (“I Cry”), “Entra En Mi Vida” (“Step Into My Life”), “Kilómetros” (“Kilometers”), “Sirena” (“Mermaid”)and “Mientes Tan Bien” (“You Lie So Well”).

Throughout their career together, they have worked, whether it be writing or singing, as a duo or separately with Mijares, Ernesto D’Alessio, Presuntos Implicados, Christian Castro and Alicia Villarreal, among countless others. The understanding between them, after the road traveled, is more profound, clearer.

“We are two very different people who complete each other by 100%. We have very differing tastes and personalities. We are like night and day. Noel likes to wake up early and I sleep in late. He likes being out in the streets a lot and I am more of a homebody,” states Leonel.

And they reaffirmed this with their exploration, in ways and with topics already completed, with R&B as its base.

“We have always considered ourselves to be R&B singers, in the past few years we have been even more influenced by the genre”.

For Leonel, R&B was a natural step, as was working with Brian McKnight, because they were searching to find their roots, their influences. They worked on “La Razón Eres Tú” (Look What You Make Me Do) with McKnight.

“He is like the conductive wire of the entire vocal work. He is part of the origin, of the sound of the songs. There is no middle ground, like classic ballads, it goes from soul to R&B to even hip hop because of his vocal range. We went to him because of his experience.”

In “Mañana” (Tomorrow), Sin Bandera also collaborates with other artists: “Junto a Ti” (“Next to You”) with Vico C, “Como Tú y Como Yo” (“Like You and Like Me”) with Laura Pausini, and “Déjame” (“Leave Me”) and “No, No” (“No, No”) with Kuntry.

This new studio album by the duo was recorded in Playa del Carmen and will appear on Dual Disc format with images of the planning and production of all of the material.

The group has earned the public’s attention with their simple and sincere style. They are not syrupy-sweet or exaggerated, cliché or extreme. They are romantic,

giving, lucid, clear, internal, and sensorial…they go from the dreamer to the idealist, from the reflexive to the introspective.

“Cuando Yo No Te Esperaba” (“When I Didn’t Expect You”) and “Cómo Voy A Olvidarte” (“How Will I Forget You”) are examples that re-examine the romantic philosophy of the two, who do not have a standard in music, who won’t be pigeonholed, who reject prejudices.

“Our music is romantic and romance does not exclude being an adulterer or being sexual, romanticism is vulnerable to sexuality. It is not cliché or syrupy-sweet, it is giving yourself into the experience and the pleasure of interpretation, of feeling, into the pleasures of the senses, sensual,” affirms Noel.

“Mañana” (Tomorrow) is the completion of Sin Bandera’s “Pasado” (The Past). The first part of a story that will conclude with other material, made up of Sin Bandera’s favorite songs and favorite artists.

“We are always obsessed with the past, the future and we leave the present off to the side, which is what we have to live. The past indulges us and the future intrigues us, that is the general concept of the album, and the two will complement each other,” Leonel points out.

"Mañana" is already in the dictionary and soon, in a few months, the new definition of "Pasado" will arrive. "Pasado" (The Past) contains a few songs with Leonel and Noel, such as “Lo Ves” (“You See”), by Alejandro Sanz; “Será” (“That Which Will Be”) by Ricardo Montaner; and “Si Tú No Vuelves” (“If You Don’t Return”) by Miguel Bosé. Classic versions by Franco de Vita, Luis Miguel, and Rosana sneaked into the album as well… because with Sin Bandera Love is in the Air.
