They were a glorious culmination of rock's first two decades: the droning menace of The Velvet Underground plus the sass and saxophones of Roxy Music meets the industrial ambient of Berlin-era Bowie/Pop times the feral energy of the Sex Pistols. Though big in the UK with four critically acclaimed records, "The Psychedelic Furs," "Talk, Talk, Talk," "Forever Now" & "Mirror Moves,"The Furs made the crucial leap from local to global concern in 1986 when "Pretty In Pink," a song from their second LP, became the title track to a John Hughes movie. Suddenly, The Psychedelic Furs went supernova in America, where they spent the rest of the 80's as arguably one of the most influential and adored acts to have emerged out of the UK's so-called New Wave.
