Though I own most of these songs this is a good place to start for newcomers. With someone like Dylan, there is no way you can sum up his career if you tried ten cd's. So for people who want to know what Dylan's all about, this would be the perfect place to start.

To dedicated Dylan fans, we that own[ed] his records, & the young persons looking for a guide to Bob Dylan: Save your money, Honey's.

CDs offer revolutionary clarity of sound, even if you just can't imagine listening to "In My Time Of Dyin'" without a couple of pops! Yes, this set does sound fantastic, so I gave a star for that.
Unless you just lost your Dylan collection in a disaster, then stick with his first 5-7 records, add "Basement Tapes," and "Blood On The Tracks" as needed.

As prolific as Dylan is, like John Lennon or Townes Van Zandt, there will always be compilations, which include rare song(s) that hit the cutting room floor. There's reasons they didn't make it then! Don't pretend that you're going to love them now! Seriously, they're used as bait-- so we'll buy *another* Great Hits Set.

Don't go there.
