Since his introduction into the rap game on Raekwon's debut solo album, Cappadonna has been an honorary member of the Wu-Tang Clan, shining on almost every Clan collaboration thereafter. With the Wu in such high demand, it was only a matter of time before fans started anticipating Cappadonna's solo joint. The pillage presents Cappadonna as a lyrical mastermind in his own right. His style is very similar to both Raekwon and Ghostface, and with RZA handling the production, the album stands up favorably alongside other wu albums. Throughout the album the Don, formerly known as Cappachino, delivers witty, hip-hop tunes that convey a strong message.

The production is tight all the way through, and the general album a strong coherent feel, it sounds and plays just like a good Wu album should. On first listen the album doesn t jump out at the listener as anything special, but like the best Wu albums, give this joint a couple more rotations, and everything starts sounding like it s a gift from the music gods. Sure Cappa isn t perfect, his a good rapper, but sometimes he can seem lazy, or his nasaly voice can be off putting. This is only on a couple of tracks though, on the whole Cappa gives as good as his potential had shown.

This is a strong debut album form Cappadonna. Unfortunately for him though, this album is going to be compared more with Wu mid 90 s solo classics like Liquid Swords and Cuban Linx, rather than the majority of hip hop that came out around the same time (i.e. No Limit and Bad Boy!!).

This album stands well above the influx of No Limit and Bad Boy records that hit the market at the same time. And on that comparison, one would wonder why this album never quite gets much praise. But this album simply gets shadowed by Raekwons, Ghostfaces, Meths and Gza albums. To be fair this album isn t quite up to that standard, but its a classic none of the less.
