Although this is not the fan favorite of Quik's albums, this, personally, is my favorite. After I heard the album, I felt like this was DJ Quik's most mature album when it comes to lyrics and also production. Some of the beats that he has on here aren't as fonky as the ones that he had on previous albums, but a lot of things that are done musically don't really stand out to other people. The song that I am most impressed with is "Well" which includes a guest appearance by Raphael Saadiq and places Quik as composer to the score heard in the background. That step is rarely, or only, done by an artist/producer this well.

With the exception of "Well," Quik still manages to get fonky on hit tracks like "We Came 2 Play", "Pitch In On A Party", "How Come?" and "U Ain't Fresh", which features East Coast Hip Hop Pioneer Eric Sermon. The fonkiest of all tracks was probably "Du Whutcha Want" which features a special appearance by Digital Underground and AMG.

The other tracks that really stood out for me were, of course, "Do I Love Her?" which was a big hit on southern Cali radio stations, and "Quikker Said Than Dunn" which was Quik's dedication track to the innovator and one of the inventors of gangsta rap music, Eazy-E. This was a tight track to me because not only did he cover this classic hit, he also added a little bit of flavor that only Quik can add.

DJ Quik may have not satisfied some of his fans musically on this album, but his lyrics compliment his beats as well as the beats compliment his lyrics. His lyrics on this album seem a little bit more deeper than the lyrics previously heard on his earlier albums. This album shows that Quik is America's most complete and most consistent rap artist there is out there.

So, from Black to White, West to East, Hood to Suburbs, Young to Old and Poor to Rich, purchase or burn this album and get hit by strong tracks from this talented lyricist/producer.

Guest appearences: AMG, Digital Underground, Eric Sermon, Kam, Mausberg(RIP), Raphael Saadiq, Suga Free.

PEACE!!!
