The lyrics tell stories and paint melodramatic portraits of relationship ups and downs which I and many others can relate to. This album is more consistent and up tempo than some of her later albums. I like this album alot. I listen to it almost everyday since I bought it. Her voice is hypnotic and wonderful. The music on this album is very catchy. Who ever put together the beats and keyboards is a beast! This is a nice break from the heavy metal I am always bumping. If you want an album by her check this out first before you deviate to her later albums.
