I discovered Joshua Radin by accident. I was having dinner with some friends and the conversation turned to Scrubs and I mentioned that I was always impressed with the musical selections that were featured in the episodes. This led to a conversation about how Zach Braff had a friend that he is always plugging which was Joshua Radin. I informed my host that I had never heard the name and my friend of course runs to the cd player and puts in the We Were Here.
This was a great cd and the music was so honest and seemed to be from the heart. I was very impressed that it was just the singer and his guitar. So many new bands try to over compensate for their lack of experience by over producing the music. This was not the case here, the music was simple and straight forward. My friend gave me her copy of the cd and I have played it non stop and have started to catch myself singing along. There are no standout songs that would by your typical single, instead you get once of the most solid debut albums with great songs from start to finish (the last song Only You by Yaz is hands down my favorite).
I have over a 1000 cds and this one is easily a top 20 in my collection. It is perfect for being by yourself and just enjoying nothing but the music, it really puts you in a happy place.
