Seems rather funny reviewing an album 33 years after it was released, and after the performer has died, but you just can't beat classics.
I actually purchased this album only recently to complete my Dan Fogelberg collection, and was very pleasantly surprised. This album didn't receive much airplay at all, none of the songs were considered 'hits', but don't let that dissuade you. If you enjoy older Dan Fogelberg (Netherlands, Phoenix, Souvenirs) do not hesitate to grab this one. I wish I had gotten it years earlier...
The two best tunes (in my opinion, of course) are "Aspen" with the follow-up track of "These Days", very much reminiscent of the way "Tullamore Dew" and "Phoenix" run one into the other. Same with my other favorite, although it is much more two complete songs, just with a bridge between them, "Man In The Mirror - Below The Surface". Excellent Fogelberg-styled lyrics and songs...I really enjoyed listening to two songs I had never heard with that classic sound.
If you are unfamiliar with Dan Fogelberg at all, he has been described by many (including Rolling Stone) to be "Eagles-like". I don't know about that, he certainly incorporates a lot of country-styling into his music, but I'd say he's more like Loggins & Messina.
This will become another one of my classics that I listen to again and again. I just wish I hadn't taken so long...
