Suicide Silence is a curious band. If you piece it together they should be one of the best bands on the scene. The drums pound, the guitar crushes, the vocalist (despite what some others are saying) is AMAZING with both the lows and highs, and yet somehow something feels like it's missing.

It's not a clunker of an album, and I think some are reviewing it poorly just because there's been hype around these guys and it's unwarranted. Understandable, but not really fair. This album IS heavy, it IS loud, it IS good. However, for reasons I can't quite fathom, it isn't as good as I feel is ought to be.

One reason is that the song structure isn't the best. It's like the guys have all the elements of incredible metal but weren't quite sure how to put them all together. The songs feel slapdash at times with intros leading into choruses and verses that sound nothing like one another.

That said, it's a 4* album and a band to keep a close eye on. There's just too much potential here for greatness NOT to be on the way.
