Suicide Silence's first studio album, The Cleansing, is one of the most hardcore pieces of metal you're likely to get your hands on for a while. The drums are tight and pummel the eardrums relentlessly, and the screams coupled with the low, gutteral growls are probably the best I've ever heard out of a heavy metal singer. The giutar work is nice as well, yet the riffs repeat far too much on some songs. It's a tough as nails listen which means that you won't find the album changing pace to satisfy the interests of the more acoustic listeners like so many other 'heavy' metal bands these days. The Cleansing isn't the most unique listen of the year, but it's probably the most consisitent. Don't hesitate to check it out!
