The song suffers from the same curse as everything from Bruce for the last 10 to 15 years, comparison to his '70's and '80's work-some of the absolute greatest rocknroll EVER. He came out with a box set of all the songs he never managed to put on an album about 10 years ago, and even though for Springsteen purists, they were good songs, it's understandable why he never put them on albums. They're good, but not great. This song sounds like one of those- not bad at all, but nothing that will make a huge impact. BUT-this video does add to an appreciation of the song, which is what any good video should do. And it's better than most of the other banal junk you hear these days.
Wonderful to hear some great rock ~ roll again.
I hope everyone enjoys what a great artist Bruce has been thru his career. Simply amazing!
First impression? 8-6-7-5-3-0-9...
However, I'm looking forward to the record... Alas, too skint to make the tour.
The best moments on a Springsteen album rarely turn-up on the promo videos. This particular song is passable rock and roll, but not likely to be a classic. But how many people would place "Dancing in the Dark" at the top of the Springsteen playlist? It's the rest of the tracks that typically make or break a Springsteen album.
Bruce claims he may be an "attention w***e" but his talent and messages go way beyond his need or desire for attention, way to go Boss, this is a great cd. Thanks for being in our time.
